Song Lyrics
Cemetery Angel
by Jennifer Pitcock
Verse One:
She was born
An average daughter, average girl--
Or so the Demi-god Men thought.
But when she stood
Eye to eye with all the world
She challenged all, and hard she fought.
"Get Back!"
She called out to the Demi-gods,
"Release my people, let them be."
Although she died,
She won her people's liberty--
And they forgot her sacrifice.
Chorus:
She's like a Cemetery Angel
(Cemetery Angel)
She used to fly on wings of stone.
Cemetery Angel
(Cemetery Angel)
Now she's all, now she's all alone--
Keeping company with the bones.
Verse Two:
Years pass on--
The rise of cities, fall of men,
Time marches on a steady pace.
The people thrive,
They build an empire nations wide--
But they forgot their Saviour's grace.
Deluded they
Replace the Demi-gods with Anti-gods,
Sure of invincibility.
Onward they fly
Toward the sun with wings of wax,
And fall in thousands at her feet.
(Chorus, break)
Verse Three:
Today she stands
Alone, unguarded, long-forgot,
Despite the bold young life she gave.
Her wings are spread,
She's always flying, always home--
What was her name, what was her name?
(Chorus)
