Song Lyrics

The Queen of the Sea

by Jennifer Pitcock
(in memory of the Titanic Disaster, April 14 - 15, 1912)

Verse One:
She was alone on the ocean,
Queen of the White Star Line.
She was built to survive like a goddess,
Each and every peril in mind.
But sailing through the darkness,
The man at the wheel was blind.
She struck the ice with a vengeance,
And sank in a few hours' time.

Chorus:
The Queen of the Sea is bleeding,
The Queen of the Sea is crying,
Despite all the tears and pleading,
The Queen of the Sea has died.

Verse Two:
Mr. Johnson's watch was salvaged,
Though it ceased to tick anymore.
Mrs. Edwards' china was scattered
Along the ocean floor.
Little Katie's dolly, Suzie
Washed up on the Newfoundland shore.
And the ship with all her glory
Was swallowed up with one final roar.

(Chorus, break)

Chorus Two:
The Queen of the Sea was bleeding,
The Queen of the Sea was crying,
The pages of history are screaming:
"The Unsinkable Queen has died!"
